Why do we tithe? The Bible says that the purpose of tithing is to teach us to always put God first in our lives. (Deuteronomy 14:23 TLB) Tithing reminds us that God is the provider of everything we have. The word “tithe” comes from the Hebrew ma’aser and means a tenth, the ten percent that belongs to the Lord. At New Good News we believe that Jesus is everything in everything. He is the one who justifies us before God, we don’t have to do anything for God to be pleased with us. We advise that people receive the revelation of tithing and not enter into a kind of business with God in the sense that “I give you my tithe so that You will bless me.” We don't believe in "waving your hand to God," He already moved when He sent His Son to die for us on the cross.
